INFLATION FOR FEBRUARY DROPS TO 14.23%

Inflation for February is 14.22 percent. This represents a 0.55-percentage points drop over January’s figure of 14.78 percent.

This is the second drop since January and eighth since June last year.

The drop means the rate of general price levels has witnessed a marginal drop over that of last month.

The Ghana Statistical Service, which announced the rate, attributes the drop to a stable cedi and a drop in demand for goods and services.

The head of Economic Statistics at the Statistical Service, Ebo Duncan, tells Joy Business inflation may continue to fall if government continues with its stabilization programs and fiscal discipline.

At the regional level, the central region posted the highest inflation rate of 22.7 percent compared to the Northern Region which recorded the lowest of 12. 43 percent.
